Leeds United go into deadline day without a single new signing to their name in January. And whether the club manages to get even one deal over the line remains to be seen.
Few expected much from Leeds United in this January transfer window. But by deadline day, fans might have hoped and expected to see at least one player through the doors at Elland Road.
That’s not the case, though. Leeds are being linked with several players but none are joining as of yet. Most recently, it looked like Matt Targett was set to join Leeds United but where that move stands at right now remains to be seen.
Others are being linked, including Southampton’s Cameron Archer who Leeds have seen a loan bid for rejected by the struggling Saints. Elsewhere, former Liverpool and Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has become a surprise target for the Whites.
He currently plays at Besiktas where he’s struggled for regular game time this season, featuring just six times in the Super Lig and scoring once.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has convinced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay at Besiktas
Despite his lack of game time and the growing interest from clubs in England, new Besiktas boss and former Manchester United player and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has convinced the 31-year-old to stay in Turkey.
Per Turkish outlet Sports Digitale, Turkish football journalist Sercan Dikme has revealed that Solskjaer and Oxlade-Chamberlain recently met and held talks about the latter’s future, with the meeting itself very positive.
Dikme adds that Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘is happy with the situation and wants to fight for Besiktas’, dealing a late transfer blow to Leeds United in this winter window.

Where does a Leeds United deal for Cameron Archer stand?
With Targett possibly arriving at Elland Road, Daniel Farke may turn his attentions to an attacking signing, with a number of different names having been linked in January.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is just one but a move for him now looks unlikely. The name that most Leeds fans are talking about right now is Archer at Southampton.
Leeds have seen a loan bid for Archer rejected but a deal for the 23-year-old doesn’t seem to be dead in the water, with Southampton weighing up Archer’s future at the minute.
Archer is open to joining Leeds United but he has interest from a number of other clubs. His possible St Mary’s exit seemingly hinges on what business Southampton can do in the next two days.
If Archer joins Leeds then it’ll be at the 11th hour for sure.
