Leeds United have already waved goodbye to Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Crew on loan this month, and Daniel Farke has now responded when asked if another could join them in leaving Elland Road.

Joe Gelhardt has joined Hull City on loan after managing just three appearances during the first half of the season, starting in the Carabao Cup loss at Middlesbrough. He made his debut for Hull at Millwall.

Meanwhile, Wales international Charlie Crew has gone to League Two side Doncaster Rovers until the end of the season and also made his debut on the weekend. But, there are others that could also go on loan.

Daniel Farke responds if ‘brilliant’ Leeds teenager could leave

Gelhardt left mostly because Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford sit ahead of the former Wigan man in the pecking order. Similarly, Crew is sixth-choice with Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev fit again.

But for James Debayo, Leeds lack cover at centre-back. Pascal Struijk is sidelined until February and scans this week will show if it is a long-term injury, or just a few weeks while Max Wober’s knee issues remain.

Debayo made his debut for Leeds in the 4-3 win at Swansea as a sub, with Debayo described by Michael Skubala as “brilliant” as per the Evening Post. Now, Farke has responded if Debayo could now go on loan.

“We’ve allowed Joffy and Charlie, but it is important we don’t overdo it. With Pascal out, Max Wober’s availability has not been that great, I am a bit careful with doing this [letting Debayo go on loan].

“At the moment, we have to make sure in terms of quality numbers, the group is not getting too small. Yes it is a possibility, but only a small possibility and only in the last few days of the window,” he said.

James Debayo future could depend on what Leeds do this month

Ethan Ampadu deputised in the middle of the defence on Sunday and has done on a few occasions since the Wales star returned from his knee injury. With Struijk missing and Wober a concern, there is an issue.

Leeds have been linked with plenty of players. Leeds are in talks for Forest’s Andrew Omobamidele, a player who made his Premier League debut under Farke. Nico Elvedi is a target but maybe in the summer.

Christopher Wooh has been linked with a £6m move to Leeds, and Wooh opened the door on a possible move in January earlier this week. If Leeds sign a defender, it is likely Debayo is allowed go leave on loan.
