Less than a week after Leeds United confirmed their place in next season’s Premier League campaign, and the club are already being linked with a whole heap of new signings ahead of the summer.

Daniel Farke’s future has even come under the spotlight, though Leeds have made it clear that Farke will be in the dugout. At least to begin with, Alan Brazil predicting Farke may only get four or five games.

Leeds will need to make a number of key signings this summer. The 49ers are said to want six signings in the next few months, with Adam Pope making it clear that north of £100m is required to stay at the top.

In the midst of such a busy summer, Angus Kinnear will join Everton at the end of the season. Kinnear also wants head scout Gary Penrice and transfer guru Nick Hammond to follow him to Merseyside from Leeds.

Everton now pushing to beat Leeds to signing of West Ham ace

On Saturday, Tomas Soucek thought he ended West Ham’s poor run of form with a brilliant header from a Jarrod Bowen cross. His eighth Premier League goal of the season put West Ham 2-1 up over Brighton.

But typically, Brighton scored two late goals to win 3-2. Soucek was given his first league start by Graham Potter since the middle of March, with reports emerging Soucek was growing frustrated on the bench.

Those reports linked both Leeds and Everton with a move for Soucek. A move to Kinnear’s side would see Soucek reunite with David Moyes. Now, Alan Nixon reports Everton are really pushing to get a deal done.

While Soucek is not going to be a free agent this summer as Nixon’s report suggests, he does say Everton are pushing hard to get a deal for Soucek, which would see Kinnear rubber stamp a deal ahead of Leeds.

Why Tomas Soucek is the perfect kind of summer signing

A quick look at the current squad under Farke will tell even those of a lesser footballing persuasion that the Elland Road roster is a young one. If they are to stay in the Premier League, experience is required.

Any signing Leeds make this summer should be ticking three boxes. Premier League-proven, or a belief that any new player is of Premier League quality and can cope with the pressure of England’s top tier.

Age is crucial, a player that has been there and done it over a number of seasons – perhaps, in their late twenties or even early thirties. Finally, they are affordable. Soucek at 30, is certainly that – he’d be ideal.
