Premier League midfielder could consider joining Leeds United after disagreement with his manager

Leeds United are in the market for new signings as The 49ers look to build a squad capable of achieving Premier League safety, and they could take advantage of a decision made by Graham Potter.

Promotion is in the bag and all Leeds have left to do this season is fight for the Championship title with Burnley. A two horse-race, both sides sitting on 94 points but Leeds boasting a better goal difference.

This summer, Leeds will know they need to be active. Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich all spent the best part of a combined £300m during 2024-25 but could not survive relegation to the Championship.

Leeds will have to be smarter in the transfer market, or spend even more. The likelihood is that Leeds will try to bring in some battle-hardened Premier League players, and a West Ham player is being targeted.

Leeds eyeing Tomas Soucek after Graham Potter disagreement

Czech outlet IDNES say that Leeds and Everton are interested in signing Soucek. A household name in the Premier League for the last five and a half seasons, playing 240 times for West Ham in league and cup.

The midfielder has two years left on his £87,000-a-week contract but the report says Soucek is ‘suffering’ on the bench at West Ham, with Potter starting him only once in the last four Premier League matches.

The report states that David Moyes could reunite with Soucek at Everton while Leeds are intent on a deal for the 79-time Czech Republic star. Whether West Ham are open to a sale though, remains to be seen.

Tomas Soucek not the only West Ham star linked with Leeds

Soucek is exactly what Leeds and The 49ers will be looking for. Farke’s side are young and while plenty do have Premier League experience, The Whites lack age and perhaps, proven Premier League performers.

Soucek has a bit of everything. Always available, capable in both boxes and even has seven goals in the top tier this season. It is remarkable that Potter is not actually playing him 90 minutes, week in week out.

He’s not the only West Ham player to be touted with a move to Leeds, either. The Whites want a striker and England international Danny Ings has been suggested as an option, as he struggles for game time.

Ings would be a bit of an underwhelming signing for Leeds but if The Whites managed to get Soucek over the line, it would be a superb bit of business. Even though he’s 30, he’s likely to cost a decent fee.
