It’s been a very indifferent week for Leeds United in the transfer market: blighted by Sunderland but having got their third signing of the summer over the line too.

Leeds United have endured very mixed fortunes in the transfer market of late. The big news being that Sunderland outbid Leeds United in the race for Habib Diarra which has seemingly opened a can of worms, with many wondering how much Leeds really have to spend this summer.

Not just that, but Sunderland have also signed Noah Sadiki who Leeds had previously bid for this summer, whilst fellow Leeds transfer targets Djordje Petrovic and Reinildo Mandava are also expected to sign for the Black Cats in the near future.

But Daniel Farke now has three signings on board. At the start of the week, Leeds United completed a deal for Sebastiaan Bornauw at Wolfsburg and the defender joins Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha in signing for the Whites this summer.

And who might be next? We take a look at who might prove to be the next three signings at Elland Road this summer…

The three players who could sign for Leeds United after Sebastiaan Bornauw

Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson looks to have, technically, become a free agent. There were reports that Newcastle were giving Wilson a new contract but there now seems to be uncertainty over whether or not he has been handed a new deal.

This week, Newcastle United removed Wilson from their official website, sparking debate online that he has been released. The club soon re-added him. But he’s listed as a free agent on the Premier League website and he’s well-liked at Leeds United, who are in need of another striker despite the Nmecha signing.

Gustavo Hamer

Gustavo Hamer looks set to be on the move this summer. The 2024/25 Championship Player of the Season at Sheffield United, with 10 goals and eight assists in 44 league games, the Dutchman has a number of options, it seems.

Last month, reports claimed that Hamer wanted to join PSV this summer. But in a turn of events, subsequent reports actually revealed Hamer wants to seal a Premier League move this summer, setting the stage for a move to Leeds United where he’s long been admired.

What’s more is that Leeds could sign Hamer for just £6.8million this summer, per reports, and so it’s a move that could make a lot of sense for those at Elland Road.

Gabriel Gudmundsson

Sweden and Lille left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson looks nailed on to leave this summer, and all signs are pointing towards Leeds United currently being the favourites to sign the 26-year-old, who sees his contract expire in a year’s time.

Junior Firpo is moving to Real Betis and so Farke needs a new left-back signing. Gudmundsson has earned huge praise for his performances in France, and Gudmundsson spoke publicly about the idea of joining Leeds, failing to rule out the potential deal.

He said: “I can only say that it is a good team [Leeds United] that plays in the Premier League, a league and a country where I also have an ambition to one day play considering that I grew up watching that league. It’s a league that I appreciate very much.”

Gudmundsson looks like a key transfer target for Leeds United this summer, and a potentially very exciting capture.
