It’s certainly been a tough few days for Leeds United in the transfer market. Unfortunately for Daniel Farke, it’s not getting any better anytime soon.
Last season, Leeds United finished a whole 24 points ahead of Sunderland in the final Championship table.
Sunderland won the Championship play-off final in dramatic fashion against Sheffield United and are now joining Leeds and Burnley in the top flight, and it’s the latter two who seem to be making the most waves in the transfer market this summer.
The Black Cats in particular: in the last few days, Sunderland have beaten Leeds United to a number of signings having already confirmed the signing of Habib Diarra, with reported agreements to sign Noah Sadiki, Djordje Petrovic, and Reinildo Mandava.
All four of those players were linked with a move to Elland Road. Leeds United even made bids to sign Diarra and were rumoured to have had a bid rejected for Sadiki, leaving Leeds wanting as Sunderland stock up on some quality players.
And it’s not stopped there either, with another summer transfer target for Daniel Farke having now agreed a move to another club. Thankfully though, it’s not Sunderland.

Nicolas Kuhn agrees next move after Leeds United links
Going into the summer, Celtic attacker Nicolas Kuhn was mentioned alongside a possible move to West Yorkshire. Leeds United took an interest in Kuhn, former of Bayern Munich and Ajax, after he scored 13 goals and assisted nine more in 32 Scottish Premiership games last season. But the 25-year-old winger is headed for Italy.
Journalist Anthony Joseph has revealed on X that Cesc Fabregas’ Como have ‘agreed an initial £16.5million fee’ for Kuhn. Como and Celtic are now ‘ironing out the finer details’ but the German has ‘verbally agreed terms on a long-term contract’ with the Serie A club ahead of next season.
Interestingly, Fabregas was linked with the Leeds United job after the end of last season when Farke’s future was up in the air, though the Spaniard was only very briefly linked with the job.

The latest on Leeds United’s search for new wingers
Wide players are needed at Leeds this summer. Last season Farke relied perhaps overly on Dan James and Manor Solomon: James has signed a new contract with Leeds United but Solomon has returned to parent club Spurs, and there remains a lot of uncertainty over whether he’ll be brought back to Leeds.
But there have been few wingers linked with Leeds so far this summer. Kuhn is definitely one of the few who’s had links, with a recent one being Timothy Weah at Juventus.
It’s reported that Leeds United and Everton are battling to sign Weah this summer, and the two Premier League clubs look to be emerging as front-runners to sign the USMNT man, who plays predominantly on the right.
He could be the perfect replacement for Solomon if he doesn’t return. But Farke still needs more, and the longer he waits, the more often he’ll see players like Kuhn secure moves to other clubs.
