This time last year, Leeds United were gearing up for what was a defeat in the Championship play-off final.
This time round though, Leeds United fans can watch the play-off final between Sunderland and Sheffield United, in the knowledge that their spot in the next Premier League campaign has already been secured.
Leeds United won the Championship title on the final day of the season and so Daniel Farke and his players don’t have to contend with the play-offs. Farke though may have great interest in the game at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
His side have been linked with a handful of Sunderland and Sheffield United players throughout the 2024/25 season, and whichever team loses could well lose said players, with Leeds United a potential destination.

Wilson Isidor
Wilson Isidor has been a hit with Sunderland fans this season. In 45 total games in Championship matches, Isidor has scored 13 goals, having seen his loan move from Zenit made into a permanent stay back in January.
Sunderland paid £5million to sign Isidor on a permanent basis and soon after, it was reported Leeds United were interested in signing Isidor this summer. Although the Frenchman hasn’t been in good form since.
Since scoring in Sunderland’s 2-1 defeat against Leeds United back in February, Isidor has scored just once in 15 games for the Black Cats.
Gustavo Hamer
On the Sheffield United side, Gustavo Hamer is one that Farke may keep an eye on at Wembley. The Dutchman has enjoyed another stellar season in the Championship scoring 10 goals and assisting seven more from midfield, in 43 total league games.
For some time now, Leeds United have been linked with Hamer. Recent reports though have revealed that Everton are interested in signing Hamer this summer and so if the Blades don’t go up, there could be a scramble to sign the 27-year-old.
It’s understood that Sheffield United value Hamer at £20million. But promotion to the Premier League would surely rule out a move from Bramall Lane this summer.

Dennis Cirkin
The third name on Farke’s watchlist for Saturday is Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin. The former Spurs man has had a mixed season in the Championship but on the whole, he remains a player with great ability and great potential.
Leeds United have been credited with an interest in Cirkin who remains under contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2026, which could mean a summer transfer for the 23-year-old should Sunderland lose on Saturday.
For Farke, left-back is a key area of concern right now, with Junior Firpo’s future at Leeds United still uncertain.
