Junior Firpo’s future looks like it could become a saga, with no clear answer on whether or not the full-back will remain at Elland Road for next season.
Junior Firpo is out of contract at Leeds United this summer. But Daniel Farke is keen to keep the 28-year-old for a while longer yet, following his impressive form in the second half of the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
And it’s now been revealed that Leeds United have offered Firpo a lucrative contract to remain with the club. But the Dominican has admitted that he’s unsure where his future lies.
Firpo has interest from Europe and the Premier League ahead of the summer, with some big teams reportedly looking including his former team Barcelona.

What has Junior Firpo said about his Leeds United future?
It’s no secret that Firpo has options. It’s also clear that he’s really considering where his future lies with his next move potentially being the last big move he gets in his career.
Speaking in a recent interview, though, Firpo opened up on the decision lying ahead, insisting that he’ll come to a conclusion in the coming weeks, but not giving any indication into what that decision will be.
He said when asked where his future lies: “I don’t know, I can’t answer that. I was focused on promotion and didn’t want to get distracted. There may have been approaches; it would be a good recognition of my season.”
Asked whether staying at Elland Road is off the table, he added: “No, not at all. I’m fine here, and who doesn’t want to play in the Premier League? I feel like I have a thorn in my side. My two years in the Premier League weren’t great at all. I had a lot of injuries, Covid.
“It saddens me because I think that with [Marcelo] Bielsa, in the form I’m in now, the story would have been different. I think I’m a Premier League player.”

Leeds United fans all say the same thing as Junior Firpo update emerges
After hearing the news that Firpo has been offered a new contract, Leeds United fans had plenty to say, and the vast majority were calling for the club to move on.
“I love him but he should move on this is all on sentimental value Firpo should leave as a hero,” said one Leeds United fan, as another posted: “I honestly think he should move on. He’s great but will be exposed on his defence in the Premier League.”
Many believe that Firpo hasn’t got Premier League ability after his difficult first couple of seasons in the top flight. “Wasn’t anywhere near good enough for the Premier League last time, he won’t be good enough this time,” said one fan. “Needs to be thanked for the Championship effort and let go.”
Another Leeds United fan added: “That’s troubling for me. Regardless of people’s fondness for Firpo, he is absolutely not a Premier League-standard player.”
A similar comment read: “No thanks. Thanks for his service but he’d be an absolute liability in the Prem like he was last time around.”
Firpo’s contract officially expires on June 30th.
