Leeds United could be saying goodbye to a fair few of their players this summer. There could even be some unexpected outgoings too.

Following Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League it now looks like we’ll see a squad overhaul at Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

Daniel Farke needs to ready his side for the Premier League and right now, he’s got a good team, but arguably not one anyway near ready to take on the top flight.

Expect the club to get rid of some deadweight in the summer. Patrick Bamford looks like to leave Leeds United and there’s also speculation that Illan Meslier will leave the club too, with both having endured difficult spells in 2024/25.

There’s also a lot of noise about Junior Firpo right now. Firpo is out of contract this summer and there’s a lot of speculation about whether or not he’s staying or going. Ethan Ampadu maybe dropped a hint about Firpo’s future at the bus parade on Monday, chanting ‘Real Betis’.

Firpo was linked with Real Betis earlier in the season, shortly before he changed agencies.

Premier League clubs make contact with Junior Firpo at Leeds United

And now it looks like Firpo has taken another step towards the exits door at Elland Road. An emerging report from TBR Football has revealed that Premier League trio Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham have all made contact with Firpo ahead of his contract expiring.

The same report also adds that Firpo has transfer interest from the continent, which has been present throughout the season, with interest specifically coming from Italy and Spain. It comes after a resurgent second half of the season from Dominican international Firpo, who Leeds United signed from Barcelona for £13million in 2021.

In 2024/25, Firpo racked up 32 Championship appearances having struggled with injury in the first half of the campaign. But he eventually racked up four goals and an impressive 10 assists, playing a key role in the run-in.

Junior Firpo is surely leaving Leeds United now

As ever, there’ll be a lot of uncertainty about whether or not Leeds United will beat the drop next season. Jamie Carragher explained why the more established teams succeed in the top flight and it’s simply down to the fact that they’ve managed to keep their head above water for long enough to build a backroom and a playing squad worthy o Premier League football.

For Firpo then, the possibility to join three teams in Palace, Everton, and West Ham who’ve all sustained Premier League football for a number of years now could be much more enticing than staying at Leeds United, where he could easily be in a relegation fight next season.

It’d certainly be a loss for Farke. But if Firpo leaves sooner rather than later then it gives the club time to go out and buy a replacement.
