What Stuart Dallas had to say about reports that The 49ers are considering Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United

If Paraag Marathe took anything away from Leeds United’s marvellous 4-0 win over Bristol City on Monday night, it was that the Elland Road faithful are desperate to see Daniel Farke stay.

A couple of days after promotion last week, it was claimed The 49ers were considering whether to keep Farke ahead of the Premier League. His time in the top tier with Norwich makes for worrying reading.

Just six wins in 49 Premier League games with Norwich is not encouraging by any means. But Farke has made it clear on a number of occasions he had no money to spend, and was forced to play youngsters.

The Athletic then said Farke would remain in his post, only for The Guardian to then say The 49ers had spoken to three managers about the job – Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Roger Schmidt, Davide Ancelotti.

Stuart Dallas says if he would replace Daniel Farke at Leeds

Leeds completely obliterated Bristol City on Monday night. A side that had prevented Leeds from scoring in the reverse fixture, Liam Manning’s men are currently in fifth place and pushing for a play-off place.

But Monday showed the difference between a potentially ready-made Premier League side and one that would be caught like a rabbit in the headlights, if promoted. Leeds cruised to an astonishing 4-0 victory.

Before the game, Dallas discussed whether Farke could be sacked on Sky Sports. He said: “Let’s not forget, he lost three of his best players last season – Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray.

“To do what he has done this year, he deserves so much credit. I think it would be really harsh [to sack him]. I can see why fans have their reservations because of his record with Norwich when he did go up.”

Michael Bridges has a message for The 49ers regarding Farke

Dallas thinks it would be harsh to sack Farke and if he sided with the German, Michael Bridges completely backed the former Norwich gaffer. But Bridges had a stern message for Leeds’ owners before the game.

He says that if Farke is to stand any chance of survival, then The 49ers have to back him – both in terms of keeping him on, and financially: “The team behind the team is fantastic. To go and do it back to back.

“To go again without a hangover. He wasn’t given much money in his first year with Norwich, The 49ers and the new franchise have a dream – I want Farke at the helm but you’ve got to back your manager.”

Leeds can go and win the title on Saturday, following the win over Bristol City. All they need to do against Plymouth at Home Park is match Burnley’s result with Scott Parker’s men playing host to Millwall.
