Rewind a little under 10 years, and Daniel Farke was just cutting his teeth in the world of management with Borussia Dortmund’s second team, lasting 18 months in the role.

The German gaffer had managed German minnows SV Lippstadt for six years after retiring at the club in 2008, 17 years ago at the tender age of 31. He joined Dortmund’s second string after Jurgen Klopp left.

A four-year stint at Norwich came next, before a move to Russian side Krasnodar where Farke did not actually manage a single game and then the 2022-23 season with Gladbach. Then, Leeds from June 2023.

So, Farke has experienced Dortmund’s ferocious yellow wall, the passion of the Norwich support and the heartfelt romance of managing a side he played for in three different spells – as well as Yorkshire’s finest.

Daniel Farke says Leeds atmosphere is better than Dortmund fans

He is well-positioned to judge who has a better atmosphere then, between one of Europe’s best and most-ferocious atmospheres in Dortmund’s Yellow Wall, and Leeds. Especially, after the noise on Monday.

Leeds beat Bristol City to return to the top of the table after Burnley beat QPR on Saturday. Farke told his press conference surprisingly and a bit biased, that Leeds has a better atmosphere than Dortmund.

“When you feel the united atmosphere, supporters, staff, players, it was a pretty emotional and proud moment. Today was special with the yellow scarfs – seems to be the story of my life. Norwich, Dortmund.

“Way better atmosphere than previous clubs, with all due respect to them. This atmosphere today was second to none. I feel proud of what we’ve done over the past two years to rebuild,” Farke told media.

The permutations for Leeds United ahead of Saturday showdown

So, Leeds go to Plymouth who are pretty-much relegated to League One even if they are only three points behind 21st place. Argyle need a 14-goal swing to even stand a chance of surviving relegation.

Burnley meanwhile, host Millwall. With Leeds boasting a much-better goal difference than Scott Parker’s men, all Leeds need to do is match Burnley’s result. The Clarets will be expected to beat Burnley at home.

If Leeds win, there is nothing Burnley can do unless they win by more than 10 goals come Saturday in order to overtake The Whites. However, a draw or a loss could allow Burnley to overtake The Whites.
