Since Leeds United were promoted on Easter Monday, there has been discussion among pundits and fans over whether The 49ers should sack Daniel Farke even though he’s got Leeds United up.

Such is the expectancy of Leeds United fans, that there has always been a lot of pressure on Farke to get the job done. He failed to do it in the first season, with Leeds losing in the play-off final to Southampton.

Simon Grayson rubbished any chance of Daniel Farke being sacked, after Paraag Marathe applauded the “relentless” management of Farke. But his stats in the Premier League are poor, while with Norwich City.

The discussion continues over Farke’s future in the hotseat and whether he should be given the chance to manage Leeds in the Premier League next season. Jermaine Beckford has had his say on Farke’s tenure.

Jermaine Beckford thinks Leeds should keep Daniel Farke in job

When Farke did go up with Norwich, he was not financially backed and it resulted in the German suffering relegation in his first season – before being sacked after 11 matches the second time round at Norwich.

Speaking to TalkSPORT on Monday (April 22, 9.10AM), Leeds icon Beckford was asked if The 49ers should keep Farke and after saying his form this season is better than Marcelo Bielsa’s, Leeds have to keep him.

“Do you know what, it’s a very good question. I had a look back at the last time Leeds got promoted under Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds had 28 wins then – Leeds have 27 this season with two games to go.

“Leeds have scored 11 goals more, conceded less, and picked up more points. From that perspective – and we loved Marcelo Bielsa, we trusted him,” Leeds icon Beckford insisted, when asked about Farke.

“I feel it’s only right to give Daniel Farke a chance and see what he can do with a bit of backing. We’re on track for 100 points and being the Championship winners. For me, you’ve got to give the guy a chance.”

The big decisions Daniel Farke has to make at Leeds this summer

If it is Farke that is staying at Elland Road, then he has got to be ruthless. He has got to replace those he thinks are not good enough for the Premier League and there are a few in the starting XI that struggle.

A new goalkeeper, without doubt. Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow are not equipped to be a starting no.1. Junior Firpo’s wife hinted he will sign a new deal but when in the Premier League, Firpo really struggled.

Brenden Aaronson has not been good enough this season as a no.10, so The Whites need another in that role. Joel Piroe might sit top of the goalscoring rankings with 19, but Leeds need a much-better striker.

Farke has got to make these decisions and give himself and Leeds the best chance of survival. Realistically, Leeds need to spend north of £100m to stand a chance of survival in next season’s Premier League.
