Two assists and one goal… £11.5m player puts in masterclass after reports Leeds United want to sign him

Leeds United head into the business end of the transfer window still having yet to make a signing.

There is just six days until the window slams shut and so Leeds will have to start moving quickly if they want to bring in reinforcements to strengthen the squad.

Daniel Farke has already admitted there are positions he would look to add to this month, with the main focus very much at the back. However, it would appear that a creative attacker is also on the agenda.

Leeds are interested in bringing one of Manuel Benson or David Brooks to Elland Road and after talks continued for the former this week, the latter showed exactly what he can do in the Championship last night.

£11.5 million signing Brooks was in action for Bournemouth in an FA Cup tie against Swansea City in which the Cherries breezed into the last-16 with a 5-0 win. The Leeds target was at the heart of it.

Brooks shines in Bournemouth victory

Alongside Leeds loanee Luis Sinisterra, Brooks absolutely tore apart Championship opposition on Thursday night as he scored one and provided two assists.

That was just Brooks’ sixth start of the season for Bournemouth but with four of those having come in cup competitions, he admitted last night that he wants to be playing regular football.

Whether that is at Bournemouth or elsewhere, Brooks does not mind and so that clearly leaves the door open for Leeds to make their move, unless Benson is the main target.

Leeds are battling against Southampton for both players and so it would not be a surprise if the two clubs end up getting one or the other.

Benson was key to Burnley’s emphatic Championship title last season, but Brooks has certainly shown what he can do against second-tier opposition with an absolute masterclass last night.
