Leeds United are expected to be in the market for new signings on deadline day with the Whites needing more than one in defence – but there is one signing that Leeds really need to get done.
The Whites have been linked with the likes of Ben Godfrey, who now looks set to remain at Everton after a chat with his manager. Tottenham’s Ben Davies is a target, but he is unlikely to drop a division now.
Charlie Taylor has been linked too. But, Leeds do have options on the left in the form of Junior Firpo and Sam Byram. Charlie Cresswell looks set to stay, lessening the need for another centre-back today.
So, a right-back is needed most. Archie Gray has come back from injury, but he and Jamie Shackleton are naturally central midfielders. We need a right-back as a priority. Connor Roberts would be perfect.
The 54-time Wales star has not started a Premier League match since October, playing 31 minutes in a 3-1 loss to Manchester City on Wednesday night. Leeds are said to stand a real chance of signing him.

Connor Roberts is the one signing Leeds really need to do today
A target for Leeds, and the Whites need a right-back. Described as “excellent” by Steve Cooper, the defender is Joe Rodon’s close friend – as well as Wales teammates with Dan James and Ethan Ampadu.
He’s in the final 18 months of his deal, struggling for game time and Leeds want him – with a right-back surely top of the agenda. A player that has had a hand in 35 goals in 173 Championship games. Crucial.
If Leds are to do any business on deadline day, it is the signing if Roberts from burnley. Godfrey would be an amazing addition but he no longer feels viable. Roberts is. Farke has simply got to land him.
