Leeds United are still yet to make a single signing during the January transfer window.

Under Daniel Farke’s own admission, his squad is two players weaker than what it started the month but there is now less than two days for Leeds to get any remaining deals over the line.

Defence very much remains the priority for Leeds in the next 36 or so hours and there is one player Farke has really been pushing to sign over the last few days.

Having worked alongside him at Norwich City, Farke is determined to bring Ben Godfrey to Leeds from Everton, with a second offer expected to go in, after the first one was rejected.

However, Godfrey played 90 minutes for just the second time this season in the Premier League last night, which prompted questions about the 26-year-old’s future to Sean Dyche in his post-match press conference.

Dyche addresses Godfrey speculation amid Leeds interest

He said: “There is a group motivated to play. You can only pick 11, he has been unfortunate so far under me but he has been working very hard. We assured him a few days ago that he is in the mix, you are right there. Now maybe he understands after playing tonight.”

Dyche last week spoke about how Godfrey has been frustrated at his lack of game time this season but a start at Fulham is certainly a show of intent that he could be inclined to keep him.

Leeds have already seen one loan offer knocked back for the 26-year-old but as mentioned, are expected to return with a second. However, a strong performance from him last night may well end any hope of him leaving.

This would come as a real bitter blow for Leeds as he would be a superb signing at this level, due to his ability to play in any position across the back four.

Hopefully Leeds are still able to tempt Everton into letting him go with the clock ticking closer and closer to tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.
