Richard Keys says who he would have in charge at Leeds United – Daniel Farke or Jose Mourinho

The last few days have been a whirlwind at Leeds United. Automatic promotion secured with two games to go, and then question marks over the future of manager Daniel Farke.

Despite having accomplished what he had set out to do when appointed by The 49ers in the summer of 2023, by securing promotion on Monday. A 6-0 win over Stoke, and Burnley beat Sheffield United.

Yet, Farke’s future has been questioned by one particular radio station throughout the week, harshly using the German’s previous record with Norwich City in the Premier League as a stick to beat him with.

Reports have since said that Farke will remain in the Leeds dugout. But there have been suggestions that Jose Mourinho could be tempted leave Fenerbahce for Leeds – Darren Bent touting Mourinho for Leeds.

If Mourinho was available, should Leeds make a move…

Well, Richard Keys has given his verdict. The controversial presenter is renowned for having his say and giving his opinion, when many presenters remain non-biased. He has commented on the Leeds hotseat.

Speaking on BeIN Sports, Keys said appointing Mourinho at Leeds would set Elland Road alight – even if Mourinho has managed two of Leeds’ biggest rivals. He says he’d have Mourinho as boss, over Farke.

“That [appointing Mourinho] would set Elland Road alight. I’d have an enormous amount of sympathy for Daniel. But if you’re telling me my choice is Daniel Farke or Jose Mourinho, I know which way I’m going.”

Which other managers have been touted with the Leeds job…

Farke now looks likely to remain in the hotseat and given his Norwich numbers are irrelevant, given the little funding he was given while at Norwich, it is the right decision. He deserves a chance to shine.

Alan Brazil though, predicts Farke may only get four or five games. But he deserves a chance to at least try and keep Leeds up. Cesc Fabregas has been linked with Leeds, as the Spaniard impresses with Como.

Leeds have always kept tabs on Carlos Corberan, a former U21 manager at Elland Road and an assistant with Marcelo Bielsa. If Farke was to go, there would be huge interest in the job but he is set to remain.
