Premier League announcement sees four Leeds United games affected

Leeds United’s fixture list for the first games of December has been announced by the Premier League.

The Leeds United fixtures in the Premier League during December have seen some alterations. Premier League announcements have been frustrating for Leeds already this season.

However, the sheer volume of games being altered for Sky Sports, TNT Sports and other broadcasters continues to be a theme for Leeds from the Championship.

Leeds’ Premier League fixture changes in December

Now, it is the sheer volume of Premier League clubs with European commitments this season being higher than ever, with UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and European Conference League teams.

It means Leeds are often being rescheduled, with four changes in the month of December already planned, and more are possible beyond that around Christmas.

Premier League ticket pricing announcements have been good for Leeds but the hectic and ever-changing Leeds fixture schedule has been somewhat frustrating for travelling fans attempting to plan well in advance.

Leeds fans know the Premier League fixtures are getting more difficult, with by far the toughest run of games of Leeds’ season on the horizon soon. The changes from the Premier League are as follows:

• Wednesday 3 December: 20.15 Leeds United v Chelsea (Sky Sports)
• Saturday 6 December: 17.30 Leeds United v Liverpool (Sky Sports)
• Sunday 14 December: 16.30 Brentford v Leeds United (Sky Sports)
• Sunday 21 December: 14.00 Leeds v Crystal Palace* (Sky Sports)
• *Moved due to participation of Palace in European competition on the preceding Thursday

It takes Leeds’ total number of games being broadcast live in the UK to 12 out of a possible 18. The Whites will have more beyond that but no announcement has been made for the festive fixtures yet.

In that period, Leeds travel to Sunderland on the 27th of December, travel to Anfield on the 30th of December, and host Man United on the 3rd of January.

Opta’s view of Leeds’ current games

Opta believes this next run of Leeds games is easier. It’s a positive after their start. In fact, Opta claim that Leeds have picked up more than expected.

Per their model, which simulates 100s of times, Leeds’ expected points from the opening five games was 5.5 and they picked up seven instead. They are currently on eight points from seven played.

Those games in December may well be massive, too, but the current run of games have the potential to be season-defining for the Whites.
