Leeds United are one of the biggest and most historic clubs in the country, so it’s no great surprise that they have a large and passionate fanbase.
The reality is, Leeds United are renowned for their away followings in English football and have, arguably, one of the most vocal fanbases in the country.
They had been back in the second tier for two seasons, having been relegated from the Premier League in 2023, but remained among the sides with the most tickets sold every week, both home and away, every single week.
Now they are back after winning the league with 100 points and will compete with English football’s elite once more, and crowds are not going to dip whatsoever. If anything, Elland Road will be more vital to survival and packed out to the rafters.

Away ticket prices agreed on by Premier League clubs
Leeds is also one of the largest one-club cities in Europe, which aids them in attracting local fans from a larger catchment area. Whilst in the last two seasons, Elland Road was a fortress and one of the toughest places to go in the Championship all season.
They only lost three league games in 46 games, which is not a record they will be able to maintain in the Premier League given the step up in quality. However, they will also be welcoming larger and more passionate fanbases too.
That should create an even more raucous atmosphere at Elland Road. Not many of those clubs will feel as though they can match Leeds’ away following, though.
The Whites’ away support is regarded as one of the best in the country, and they will be delighted at the latest news coming out of the Premier League. Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed those away supporters will be able to pay affordable prices for another season.
He reports that Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to extend the current £30 cap on away ticket prices. Not only that, but it means it will be the tenth season the £30 cap has been in place.
It’s a welcome move, meaning Leeds fans can continue to follow their team up and down the country far easier than if teams charged whatever they wanted and priced some fans out.

Leeds’ potential as a club with Elland Road plans
Despite relegation two years ago, Leeds have over 26,000 supporters on a season ticket waiting list. Their fans, unsurprisingly, are well renowned for selling out in recent years, with Elland Road at capacity now for the best part of seven years in the Championship and Premier League.
They will hope for more of the same this season, with large and expectant crowds expected yet again in the Premier League, where they will host some of their biggest rivals once again in Man United, Chelsea, and others.
The demand has been such that the Leeds hierarchy believe they can sustain crowds of well over 50,000 regularly in English football’s top flight. The 49ers have plans to redevelop Elland Road.
Premier League football means a massive increase in Leeds’ revenue and the 49ers plan to use some cash on reshaping Elland Road. It will take Elland Road’s capacity from 37,792 to around 56,500 when totally finalised.
For now, they will have a smaller crowd but that won’t stop the noise at Elland Road. Can Leeds supporters be the club’s 12th man this season and help spur them on to survival?
