Leeds United are preparing for a new season but the 2024/25 Championship was a magnificent campaign which Leeds fans won’t want to forget.

Leeds United brought an incredible season to a fitting end by clinching the Championship title ahead of Burnley in the most dramatic style possible on final day against Plymouth Argyle.

There was a party in Leeds with the open-top bus parade to celebrate a return to the Premier League and a remarkable campaign of 100 points, where numerous players were key figures for Daniel Farke.

Dan James won our Player of the Season award and also the club-voted award as well. Ao Tanaka won the Players’ Player of the Season instead — both were honoured then and are to be honoured again.

Leeds pair Ao Tanaka and Dan James are nominated for Championship accolade

Our Leeds player ratings reflect Tanaka, James, and Jayden Bogle as the standouts over the course of the 2024/25 season as a whole.

Leeds icon Jermaine Beckford picked Tanaka as his Player of the Season and EFL expert and pundit David Prutton named James and Tanaka in the Championship TOTS.

But both are now among the Championship Players’ Player of the Season nominees. There are only two Leeds players but Tanaka and James are one of two pairs from the same club to be nominated.

Tanaka, James, Gus Hamer, Josh Brownhill, James Trafford, and Borja Sainz are the six players up for the award, with Hamer already winning the EFL version of a similar award ahead of James and Trafford.

Tanaka was the metronomic heartbeat of Leeds’ dominant team, but James’ consistent output and relentless running also made him a total nightmare for the opposition.

Which Leeds players are Premier League quality on top of Dan James and Ao Tanaka

Tanaka and James are players Farke should build around but there are not many Leeds players ready for Premier League football like they are.

Of course, Leeds need more than those two but individuals like Bogle, Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, and Willy Gnonto should all be able to contribute plenty next season in English football’s top flight.

The likes of Joel Piroe and Largie Ramazani should be useful squad players alongside new-boy Lukas Nmecha. Leeds are going to be busy for the remainder of the window yet, though.

Previously, Leeds have been outlined as one of Europe’s busiest clubs by our financial expert. They need to add to what is a strong foundation including outstanding individuals like James and Tanaka.
