Leeds United are set to host a Premier League promotion bus parade through Leeds city centre and here is everything you need to know about the plans.

The days of joy just keep on going for Leeds United and there will be more to come before the season fades into the rearview mirror.

Easter Monday was a wild day of celebration as Leeds completed their resurrection by securing promotion back to the Premier League after destroying Stoke City thanks to Joel Piroe’s four goals.

The news that Leeds are ‘considering’ sacking Daniel Farke threatened to put a dampener on things but it was then revealed that plans to extend the capacity of Elland Road have moved forward significantly.

With so much to celebrate, it’s easy to forget that Leeds still have a Championship title to win, as they duke it out with Burnley as it goes to the final day of the season.

But there will be more parties to come, especially as Leeds will be holding a promotion parade in the city once the season is over.

Leeds United bus parade date

Leeds have confirmed they will be hosting an open-top bus parade throughout the city on the first May Bank holiday on Monday, May 5.

This comes after the final fixture of the season on Saturday, May 3, which sees Leeds travel to face Plymouth Argyle.

Will Leeds United have a parade even if they don’t win the Championship?

Yes, as the Yorkshire Evening Post reported, the parade will go ahead even if Leeds falter in the race and lose the title to Lancashire rivals Burnley.

It’s explained that, given the costs associated with planning such a parade, a decision has been made that it will go ahead even if Leeds finish in second place.

Additionally, Leeds fans were unable to fully celebrate the club’s last promotion to the Premier League in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions and this party will be a way to make up for lost time.

Farke’s side are currently top of the Championship table but Burnley are level with them on 97 points.

Should Leeds defeat Plymouth on the final day then they will be champions regardless of what Burnley do, thanks to their vastly superior goal difference.

If Burnley acquire more points, then Scott Parker’s men will claim the trophy instead.

Leeds United bus parade route

Leeds have now confirmed that the parade will follow a mile-long route throughout the city.

In an official statement, it was revealed: “The parade will follow a mile-long route that will take in the full length of the Headrow, as well as City Square, Boar Lane, New Market Street and parts of Wellington Street and Vicar Lane.”

However, unlike Newcastle United’s recent Carabao Cup trophy parade, there will be no focal end point for the parade, due to the expected volume of attendees.

Instead, fans are ‘encouraged’ to spread out along as much of the route as possible. Farke and the Leeds squad will be micced up on the bus, allowing for interaction with supporters throughout the parade.

Leeds United promotion parade timings

The parade is scheduled to begin at approximately 1 pm and last between an hour and 90 minutes.

Leeds said: “The Whites are scheduled to arrive in the city centre at around 1pm, with the parade set to last between an hour and an hour-and-a-half.”
