Neil Lennon puts final nail in the coffin for Leeds United transfer after public rant

Even though the summer transfer window is still three months away, it’s not stopped Leeds United from being linked with more and more potential signings.

And even though Leeds United are stumbling somewhat in their race for automatic promotion from the Championship, there’s some big money names being tipped to move to Elland Road in the summer.

Leeds have thrown away what was a five point lead at the top of the Championship table just a few weeks ago, allowing Sheffield United to come level on points after Daniel Farke’s side drew 2-2 at QPR over the weekend.

The make matters even more worrying, Burnley in 3rd are now just two points behind as opposed to seven points behind Leeds United a few weeks back, with Leeds having won just one of their last four league games now.

Promotion remains very probable for Leeds, though. They remain the best team in the league this season, according to the table at least, and they could make some big money signings in the summer. One such signing could be Celtic’s Nicolas Kuhn.

Neil Lennon blasts Nicolas Kuhn after latest display for Celtic

Kuhn has been linked with Leeds United in recent weeks. Celtic’s £3million signing from Rapid Wien in 2024 has been in scintillating form with 10 goals and seven assists in the league alone, with 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions for Celtic this season.

But the former Ajax and Bayern Munich youngster hasn’t been so prolific of late, pretty much since he was linked with a summer move to Elland Road. He has just one assist in his last five games and one goal in his last nine now, coming off at half-time of the 3-2 defeat at home to Rangers over the weekend.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the Old Firm, former Celtic boss Neil Lennon was highly critical of the 25-year-old Kuhn. He said: “He was poor, yeah. Sloppy. A lack of belief. Speed… It’s not just Nicolas Kuhn, the whole team was lethargic for the first 20 minutes and Rangers took the game to Celtic and they weren’t at it.”

Reports coming out of Germany earlier this season suggested that Celtic would command €30million (£25.3million) for Kuhn this summer.

Leeds United target Nicolas Kuhn doesn’t even want to leave Celtic this summer

And as if Leeds didn’t have enough evidence to put them off a summer deal for Kuhn, the player himself has recently stated his desire to stay at Celtic for the foreseeable future.

Kuhn said of his future amid links to Leeds United: “When I signed here, I said the challenge was to win everything. And so far, it has been really great to be here, I’ve really liked it.

“Hopefully, there will be some more trophies to come this season. And my contract here runs until 2029, so I’m very much looking forward to what is ahead.”

But Kuhn’s links, and links to a number of other attacking players suggests Farke’s intent for the summer transfer window, which clearly seems to be aimed at bolstering his options in the final third.

Leeds United are linked with several strikers right now and a handful of attacking players like Kuhn, with Farke wanting to sign both Cameron Archer and Manor Solomon during the summer transfer window.
