‘Mediocre at best’… Leeds United fans all in agreement as Daniel Farke eyes summer deal for 17-goal star

Already after securing promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United are being linked with some new potential signings.

But so far the names being linked with moves to Elland Road aren’t all that inspiring, with Paul Merson suggesting Leeds United should sign Raheem Sterling from Arsenal.

Rather unsurprisingly Leeds United fans don’t want Sterling to sign this summer. And it seems they don’t want Norwich City’s Borja Sainz either.

Leeds United hold an interest in Sainz ahead of the summer, as well as his Norwich City teammate Josh Sargent.

Only Joel Piroe has scored more goals than Sainz this season. The Spaniard, 24, has an impressive 17 goals and four assists in 39 Championship appearances in 2024/25. But Leeds United fans say the club can do better.

“No, don’t buy Championship hype players please,” said one Leeds United fan when asked about the link to Sainz. “Not if we want to stay up,” added another.

“He’s mediocre at best in the Championship,” said another. “We need to show much more ambition than this if we want to stay up.”

Meanwhile, other Leeds United fans posted: “Not good enough, sign players like that we are straight back down, no better than we already have,” and also: “Had a good half of a season and that’s it. I’m not bothered by him.”

“We need Premier League quality, not Championship players,” urged one Leeds United fan. Meanwhile, this supporter posted: “The best Championship players don’t mean they’ll be solid Prem players.”

Leeds United have their sights set on one winger right now

Sainz is a left-sided attacker. As things stand, that position will be vacant for Leeds United next season, when manor Solomon returns to parent club Spurs.

But it’s since been reported that Solomon is open to signing for Leeds United this summer. It’s now down to Leeds to pay the £15million asking price.

Signing Solomon would be a move that goes down very well with Leeds United fans. Although he’s not exactly proven in the Premier League either.
