Junior Firpo is one of the handful of Leeds United players out of contract in the summer, along with the likes of Sam Byram and Josuha Guilavogui.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United squad could see quite some changes come the summer time. Not only does he have a trio of first-team players out of contract, but there’s the on loan stars to consider too.
Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell have become key players for Leeds United this season and so there’ll certainly need to be some signings made in the summer, if both aren’t signed on permanent deals.
Meanwhile, Junior Firpo‘s future will be talked about more and more as we near the summer. The Dominican international recently returned to action, starting the 7-0 win over Cardiff City.
Leeds fans were impressed by Firpo who grabbed himself a hat-trick of assists on the day. It’s quickly called into question his future at the club, and whether or not Farke should hand the 28-year-old a new contract.

Junior Firpo would sign a new Leeds United contract, but wage drop needed
Speaking to Leeds United News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed the latest on Firpo’s future in West Yorkshire. He says that if the full-back is open to staying at Leeds, then he’d need to take a wage drop.
Per Salary Sport, Firpo earns £30,000-a-week at Leeds United which ranks him among the club’s top five highest-paid players right now.
Bailey said: “He’s on a very big contract, so I would be amazed if they gave him the same contract. But if he is open to staying, I imagine it is a conversation they will have with the manager to see if he wants to keep him.
“Yeah he’s done okay, nothing to write home about. If he’s willing to take a wage drop, I think they might consider it but on the current terms I can’t see them keeping him.”

Leeds United already have their answer from Junior Firpo
Whilst the ball lies in Leeds’ court, it’s interesting to note that recent reports revealed that Firpo is opening to staying at Leeds United beyond this season.
The former Barcelona man, who had interest from Real Betis and more during the January transfer, now has 15 games left of the season to put in some more strong performances, and give himself some options come the summer.
If he plays well then he could have a new offer from Leeds, albeit on lesser wages, or he could put himself in the shop window to seal a good move elsewhere.
At 28 years old, Firpo may only now be getting into the prime years of his career.
