As things stand, five players in Daniel Farke’s squad will leave Leeds United at the end of the current season unless The 49ers take action and throw some money around.

Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell remain on loan and currently, will return to their parent clubs at the end of the season. But, Leeds have been told that Joe Rothwell will cost £7.5m to sign from Bournemouth.

Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Solomon could join Leeds permanently from Tottenham if the club are promoted. Three players have entered the last few months of their contract at Elland Road.

Josuha Guilavogui only joined until the end of the season in October, while Sam Byram signed another one-year deal last summer. Byram has spoken of how he would love to sign on for Leeds next season.

Junior Firpo open to entering Leeds United contract talks

Firpo is coming to the end of his four-year deal at Leeds. Following his three assists against Coventry, there is plenty of clamour to hand the former Barcelona star a new contract but Leeds may have doubts.

Currently earning £30,000 a week, Firpo’s entourage are planning for a summer exit. Besiktas were linked in December, while Real Betis are said to be on pole for Firpo, a Betis side that also bid for Mateo Joseph.

Towards the end of the January window, Real Sociedad were also touted as a possibility for Firpo and that is where the links with Matt Targett emerged. But TeamTalk say Firpo is open to signing a new Leeds deal.

Why Leeds may choose not to hand Junior Firpo a new deal

Quite incredbly, Firpo now has 14 goals and assists in 43 Championship games for Leeds since Farke took the job. Of those 14, 13 are assists with three against Cardiff and surely, he will start against Coventry.

While the last 18 months have been excellent for Firpo even if there have been injuries, his first two years were a real struggle. The former Barcelona man’s attacking intent meant he was exploited in the top tier.

More focus was placed on his lack of defensive quality and that was laid bare in the Premier League. He will turn 29 in August and it might be that The 49ers are against handing Firpo a new contract.
