Leeds United find themselves in a number of transfer tussles as the window grinds to a close, with a couple of additions seemingly being eyed by Daniel Farke.

It’s not as if Leeds United are in a crisis and need a whole host of signings before the transfer deadline, but they could do with freshening up the squad.

Daniel Farke has managed to lead the Whites to first in the Championship, but they’re only two points ahead of Sheffield United in second.

Interestingly, the Leeds boss did send a hint to the 49ers about signing a number 10, but it appears as if the club have their sights set on other positions.

It appears as if the Whites are looking at a left-back due to Junior Firpo‘s situation, with a Premier League player firmly on their radar right now.

Leeds United want Matt Targett to replace Junior Firpo

Junior Firpo has been linked with a move to Real Betis already, but things have gone quiet on that front in recent times.

However, that didn’t stop Leeds from seemingly eyeing a move for a replacement, with Matt Targett the subject of an apparent move from the Whites.

Interestingly, it appears as if Betis aren’t the only Spanish club interested at this moment in time, as Real Sociedad also want the defender, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

“I expect Matt Target to go. I’ve not really put this out anywhere yet but I was told yesterday that there has been some talks with Leeds, but Leeds were waiting to find out what was happening with their left back Junior Firpo.

“There’s some interest in him from Real Sociedad. If Firpo was to go, Targett could be an option there, but as it stands, Firpo is still a Leeds player.

“I’ve also been told that there’s interest from Southampton and Watford in Matt Target. I was also told previously a couple of weeks ago that Leicester were interested as well.”

Leeds United move for Matt Targett played down

It had been claimed that Matt Targett to Leeds United was a done deal basically, but Graham Smyth shed some light on the real situation.

He stated.

Leeds sources have reacted with ‘bafflement’ to the suggestion that they’re closing in on Targett as a January addition, as they are opposing any form of concrete interest due to their current options at full-back.

It does appear as if talks have been held for the defender, who earns £100k-a-week (Capology), but there are no signs of a deal being completed.
