Leeds United fans may have thought they’d finally secured their first signing of the transfer window, but a new revelation has brought serious confusion.

It’s been a testing time for the 49ers as their patience with signings could reach a breaking point along with the Leeds fanbase.

It is looking as though arrivals are minimal this January and fans could raise concern over the owners’ actions this window.

Ally McCoist said Leeds would struggle if promoted but if there are no incomings, promotion could be out of the picture as a whole.

With Matt Targett thought to be signing for Leeds, a new decision has been made on the left-back.

Leeds United’s decision on Newcastle’s Matt Targett this January

With Farke’s concern about signing a defender increasing he’ll be hoping the decision on Targett favours the prospect of joining.

However, disappointment continues to follow Leeds around this window.

According to Ben Jacobs, Leeds United are ‘not expected’ to make a bid for Newcastle left-back Matt Targett this winter.

There is still plenty of time to look for alternatives, but it must be a real blow to Leeds fans who thought this was a concrete chance of seeing an incoming through the door at Elland Road.

Adding to the Targett rumours, Cameron Archer has been someone linked to Leeds but both deals have now been jeopardised.

Graham Smyth shares what he’s heard about Leeds deals which have caused ‘bafflement’

It comes as no surprise that many rumours are spreading around Leeds, as misinformation will likely continue in the closing days of the window.

According to Graham Smyth (Yorkshire Evening Post), both deals have caused serious confusion within the club.

Leeds sources have reacted with ‘bafflement’ to the suggestion that they’re closing in on Targett as a January addition, as they are opposing any form of concrete interest due to their current options at full-back.

As well as this, Smyth understands that Leeds will continue to monitor Archer’s situation but Southampton are not currently willing to sanction an exit for the player who has played a major role already for the Saints this season.

This is just the first incident of many that could occur around Elland Road before the deadline.
