Jayden Bogle has really started to find his feet at Leeds United following his summer move across Yorkshire from Sheffield United.
Bogle was criticised during the early weeks of his time at Leeds after a couple of below par performances, one of which included the concession of a stoppage time penalty against Portsmouth.
However, Bogle has benefitted from playing week-in, week-out and is part of a defence that is already looking for its 10th clean sheet of the season at Swansea City this weekend.
It is what Bogle brings going forward, though, that really makes him an asset to the team and he has already chipped in with two goals from right-back.
Chris Wilder was not happy with Bogle’s decision to join Leeds in the summer and has already admitted his replacement Alfie Gilchrist doesn’t possess the attacking quality of his former defender.
Bogle on what he’s noticed between Leeds and Sheffield United
In a recent podcast appearance, Bogle described Leeds as a bigger club than both Sheffield United and Derby County, the only other two sides he has played for in his career.
Those comments are unlikely to have gone down too well with his former employers, but Leeds fans were certainly pleased to hear it.
Bogle received a lot of stick from Sheffield United’s away end at Elland Road in the meeting last month and so that is a relationship which looks all but over anyway.
And now in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Bogle was asked to share the biggest difference he’s noticed between Leeds and the Blades, to which he responded with the ‘mentality’.
He said: “I’d say just the feeling and mentality of the place. From the minute I spoke to people from the place I just sensed there was one goal, which is obviously to get promoted and win as many games as possible.
“Approaching every game with the mindset of we’re winning this game. I would say the mindset of the whole club, fanbase, support, atmosphere at the ground, all of them things bring a winning feeling to the place.”
Bogle pipped to Championship TOTS spot by Sunderland’s Trai Hume
After a difficult start, Bogle has quickly established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Championship this season.
However, Bogle was overlooked by David Prutton for a place in the Championship TOTS so far by Sunderland star Trai Hume.
Hume has also been impressive this season and was actually linked with a move to Leeds earlier in his career.
In fairness to Prutton, you could certainly argue a case for both players, but if Leeds continue this run of clean-sheets and Bogle can keep chipping in going forward, then he may get the nod at the end of the season.
