David Prutton has braved the wrath of Championship fans by picking his Team of the Season so far, including only one Leeds United player and omitting some in-form Elland Road stars.
Prutton included Pascal Struijk in his Championship Team of the Season so far, with the stand-in captain excelling in the middle of the defence alongside Joe Rodon, who clocked up his 50th Wales cap this week.
Despite sitting third in the table, Prutton overlooked the likes of Illan Meslier, Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe despite the quartet and plenty of other Leeds players thriving under Daniel Farke this term.

Leeds wanted Prutton’s right-back choice before Jayden Bogle
Bogle started a bit “all over the place” at Leeds, but has come good since the 2-0 win over Cardiff. The £5m addition from Sheffield United has still helped Leeds secure eight clean sheets in his 14 appearances.
Not only that, but Bogle has scored two goals and has made his £5m fee look like a pretty cheap signing. However, Prutton picked Sunderland’s Trai Hume over Bogle in his Sky Sports Team of the Season so far.
He said about Hume: “He’s a big part of a team that’s taken us all by surprise. Terrific, consistent and is playing to a very high standard in the Championship. He’s doing very well as part of a good team.”

Leeds United wanted to sign Trai Hume in January 2024
Northern Ireland international Hume has excelled at Sunderland over the last few years. Now one of the first names on the team sheet with his country, he is one game away from 100 matches with Sunderland.
That won’t come against Millwall on Saturday, with Hume banned. Sunderland are also missing key duo Romaine Mundle and Alan Browne due to injuries that will keep the midfielders out until the new year.
| Name | Clubs | Championship games | Wins | Clean sheets | Goals | Assists |
| Trai Hume | Sunderland | 89 | 37 | 30 | 2 | 4 |
| Jayden Bogle | Sheffield United Leeds United | 129 | 59 | 43 | 10 | 16 |
In January 2024, Leeds were linked with a move for Hume. Then in the summer, Leeds were linked again with Hume, with the likes of Napoli and Aston Villa also keen. Galatasaray has a £7m bid rejected for him.
Hume has a contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2027 and it means that if any clubs do look to make a move for the right-back, they will have to pay full price. Leeds look set with Bogle, now.
