Daniel Farke has shared an update on Leeds United’s quest to bring in new signings this month.
The Whites’ squad is currently looking weaker than what it was at the beginning of the window following the early end to Djed Spence’s loan spell, and Luke Ayling’s move to Middlesbrough.
Farke suggested even before the window opened that left-back would be a position they would look to address, but after losing two right-backs, they could also need to strengthen there too.
Connor Roberts of Burnley is a player who has been heavily linked over the last few days, and there have been reports that he would be open to a move to Elland Road.
Without naming any names, Farke has admitted in his pre-Cardiff City press conference that his squad could do with some additions in a handful of different positions.
Farke admits signings are needed
He said: “I am always open about transfers and what we need in positions. We did this in the summer with Sam Byram and in the end Djed Spence. I like to be open and transparent. I am more careful in January because I know this market is difficult.
“I cannot lie we have areas with too few numbers, but I know this market is difficult because players are under contract. Players available are those who are coming from injury or not playing. Nobody is tempted to give players away who are playing regularly.
“If you want someone who has not played recently it is hard to get them going. Or, you spend crazy money and we cannot do this. I am careful to speak in public about what we do in January. We have some positions where it would be great to strengthen, but I know how difficult the market is.
“Players here: you cannot guarantee how a new face will make them feel. Make them feel not wanted or not valued. I do not like to speak publicly too much about what we want to do.
“If business is done, we will speak about it. We know it would be great to strength but I do not want to point out where we need to strengthen.”

Farke was considerably more tight-lipped on the potential for signings last week and so it is good to hear that he feels the club do need to strengthen.
It would be superb if Leeds could bring in two full-backs for either flank before the end of the month, just to ease that pressure on 17-year-old Archie Gray, and injury prone duo Junior Firpo and Sam Byram.
Leeds are reportedly willing to be patient to find the right player, though, just like they were in the summer window.
