Leeds United and Burnley are both capable of winning the title today, with Daniel Farke facing Plymouth Argyle down in Devon.

They will have one eye on matters at Turf Moor between Burnley and Millwall, where they can also reach 100 points having matched Leeds every step of the way.

Since Leeds’ defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the end of November, they have been the two form teams in the division. Either side will feel like worthy winners but Leeds have led the way for the most matchdays in 2024/25.

They have been first for exactly 23 of 45 Championship fixtures, and second for a further six as well. Their relentless winning has propelled them to promotion despite Sunderland and Sheffield United’s best efforts earlier in the campaign.

Leeds and Burnley will both have trophies at their venues

Both Burnley and Leeds will hope to end the season on a high but only one can take the trophy home. Leeds are in the driving seat due to their vastly superior goal difference and face a Plymouth Argyle side who are all but relegated already.

Supercomputers believe Leeds will get it done in more cases than they won’t and David Prutton is backing Leeds and Burnley to both win but with the Whites winning the title on goal difference.

In an interesting twist, however, both grounds will have a trophy available to be hoisted. There won’t be any helicopter on standby to fly it from one place to another, as revealed by Alan Nixon.

That’s because the EFL have two Championship trophies at Plymouth and Burnley for the final day’s drama. He states that there is no way the EFL can gamble on the results “or even use a helicopter” as the distance of around 300 miles is too far to travel.

The solution is that two trophies have instead been found, including the real one and a replica, in order to make sure there can be proper celebrations at whichever ground is the winning venue.

The players who could be playing their last game for Leeds today

Our predicted lineup outlined the number of players who could be playing in a Leeds shirt for the final time at Home Park, with the likes of Josuha Guilavogui, Sam Byram, and Junior Firpo out of contract.

Then there are the loanees like Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon, where there are no guarantees that they will be retained. The likes of Illan Meslier and Patrick Bamford were once starters in the top flight, but their influence has waned already.

Leeds have decisions to make this summer on more than that, with numerous players unlikely to make the grade at Premier League level. Signings will be crucial to their survival, but they have a title to win first down in Devon.
