‘Disgrace’… Jermaine Beckford and Neil Warnock react to major Leeds United controversy vs Middlesbrough

Leeds United returned to winning ways at Middlesbrough and remarkably returned to the Championship’s summit.

It was a night to remember for Daniel Farke as the Whites were the only side to take advantage in the promotion race with Leeds’ 1-0 win vs Middlesbrough.

Burnley drew, and Sheffield United lost, adding another twist to this incredible Championship season.

With Leeds fans saying Farke’s on his ‘final straw’ it was some reaction from his side as Dan James’ 12th league goal of the season separated the two teams.

However, it won’t be Leeds’ performance that takes centre-stage, as it was a day to forget for the officials at the Riverside Stadium.

Jermaine Beckford and Neil Warnock react to Leeds United controversy

It certainly wasn’t a dull evening at the Riverside, as officials making errors doesn’t come as a shock to Leeds fans.

However, this one was a shocker, to say the least.

Warnock has been enraged at decisions against Leeds, and this choice from the linesman left fans completely baffled.

Ao Tanaka was clearly onside when he tapped home at the back post after Manor Solomon whipped in a wicked ball, and regret will be seeping through for official Darren Williams.

In what was a calamitous error, Warnock didn’t hold back on a decision that very nearly cost Leeds, as he explained his fury to Sky Sports.

“It should be bread and butter for him,” Warnock said

“The lino will be going home tonight telling his mates, ‘I’ve done them tonight’

“That’s a disgrace that.”

Jermaine Beckford was also in agreement with Warnock’s frustration, as he shared his bafflement on X over the decision, saying, ‘Offside…?!’.

Leeds will want answers from EFL after Middlesbrough win

To almost drop points in such a pivotal game due to refereeing decisions would’ve been a crime.

Normally in a game, an offside decision not going your way is a one-off, but to see two is unforgivable.

Patrick Bamford was the second victim of shocking calls as he was deemed to be in an offside position, but once again was clearly onside, denying him a goal that would’ve done wonders for his confidence.

Farke will be happy with the three points, but had the Whites dropped points after a solid display, serious questions would have been needed.

The EFL have already handed Leeds bizarre kick-off times, and now they’re on thin ice with the state of officiating.
