Leeds United star explains how Mohamed Salah has helped him become a major success under Daniel Farke

Daniel Farke could do with his own Mohamed Salah at Leeds United at the moment, but this player has done a good enough job.

What Farke doesn’t want to happen is for this season to be deemed a failure after so many success stories.

Manor Solomon has been successful at Leeds, but in recent time it seems as though fans are turning on the winger as the Leeds faithful called Solomon an ‘impostor’.

It might come as quite a shock to the winger, who has had nothing but praise all season, but it shows how it can all change in a flash.

Despite the negativity around the club at the moment, there is one Leeds player that fans just can’t be mad at, and his inspiration speaks volumes about his ability this season.

It comes as no surprise that Dan James is the name that crops up when major success stories from this campaign are talked about.

James has been consistent all year round, and explains why Stuart Dallas thinks James is Leeds’ ‘best player’.

Again, James looked like the only shining light in the draw vs Luton, and it seems as though he’s been learning of the best to become the best.

Speaking to The Athletic, the Welsh winger revealed how Salah has proven to be a big inspiration through his mentality and has incorporated this into his own game.

“He’s (Salah) so prolific, it’s the way he can go and go again,” James said.

“I used to let a missed chance or missed opportunity get to me a little bit and maybe (then) not take the next one. In my head, it’s about taking risks in the right moments in the final third.

“I want to contribute to the team as much as possible with goals, with assists and, firstly, that comes with shooting.

“I try to get myself in great areas to have a shot, and there’s times this season where I’ve probably been a little bit more unselfish in clear opportunities because maybe that pass across the box has been quite easy.”

James closing in on a record-breaking season at Leeds

The 27-year-old has been a joy to behold at Elland Road, and he’s proving to be worth his £25m arrival from Manchester United.

Farke has managed to bring the best out of the Welshman, and his show-stopping strike against Luton proves how he can come up clutch in the big moments.

It’s hard to argue why James shouldn’t be Leeds’ player of the season, as the numbers are there for all to see.

20 goal contributions equals the same tally he got last campaign with six games still to go, as surely the Welshman will have a record-breaking season.

James has been ‘unstoppable’ this season, and Farke will hope he can play a major part in Leeds getting promoted.
