Leeds United will be thrilled with the Whites’ victory against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday but may raise question marks over Brenden Aaronson.

Daniel Farke’s side put in a solid performance against bitter Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday as their claim for Championship promotion grows.

Leeds ran out 3-0 winners against Wednesday as the result could be seen as a pivotal match in terms of the Whites’ future in the Championship.

Despite the scoreline suggesting a comfortable victory it was anything but that, as Farke’s men had to grind for the three points, as Aidy White said Ao Tanaka was ‘really sharp’ which helped Leeds over the line.

However, White was critical of Aaronson who may have drawn Leeds fans to question him.

Aidy White says Leeds United’s Brenden Aaronson was ‘frustrating’

Aaronson has had his critics at Leeds as White believed the midfielder’s performance was underwhelming.

Someone who also had criticism was Largie Ramazani, as Farke explained Ramazani was in poor form but of course, the winger scored the decisive second goal to put Leeds at ease, which may put the 23-year-old back in the manager’s good books.

However the same can’t be said for Aaronson, as White made it clear that the midfielder’s performance wasn’t good enough, and despite his strong numbers this season, the former Leeds player hasn’t been impressed with Aaronson for a while.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds (18:08), White said: “It’s difficult because he had the impact for the first goal.

“His decision-making in certain areas though becomes increasingly frustrating,” White exclaimed.

“I do feel like there are players at this level who are that little bit better in the no.10 role – his stats don’t lie but he can be frustrating sometimes.”

Aaronson’s numbers for Leeds against Sheffield Wednesday

Aaronson didn’t have the best of days despite Leeds’ triumph, as the midfielder looked crowded at times and it wasn’t his easiest of games.

He may be let off though as Farke said Aaronson got a knock which no doubt would’ve affected his performance.

However, it doesn’t entirely cover up the American’s game as it was fairly underwhelming considering the circumstances of the fixture.

Despite a poor performance, Aaronson has still shown he can play a part in Leeds’ team after his nine-goal contributions this season.

But a game like this may raise alarm bells for Farke to invest in Aaronson’s position.
