Leeds United are no strangers to a quick turnaround with full focus already on Wednesday night’s clash against Norwich City, after Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Just 72 hours separate the two clashes at Elland Road, as Leeds returned to the top of the Championship table with a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Manor Solomon, Largie Ramazani and Ao Tanaka scoring.

While Danny Rohl’s side did worry Leeds at times, The Whites got the job done and added a cherry on top of the cake late on with super goals from Ramazani and Tanaka to secure a comfortable-looking win.

Leeds were without Pascal Struijk and Patrick Bamford on Sunday, while Max Wober, Junior Firpo and Ilia Gruev were back on the bench after injuries. But another Leeds player might have just picked up an injury.

Daniel Farke issues update on Brenden Aaronson after victory

Aaronson did not enjoy one of his best performances on Sunday, even if he was involved in the first goal. The American was full of running as always, but he was guilty of holding onto the ball too much at times.

Perhaps, the reason for his sub-par performance has become clear. Daniel Farke said after the 3-0 win in his post-match press conference that Aaronson suffered a “sore” knock to his ankle in the first half.

Aaronson lasted until the 90th minute before being replaced by Josuha Guilavogui, but Farke says that Aaronson was suffering more pain as the game went on and he will now be assessed before Norwich.

“He got a hit on his ankle in the first half, was capable to play further on. More and more sore and painful as the game went on. We have to assess him. Hopefully it’s not too bad, he’s normally a strong boy.”

Brenden Aaronson has critics but his availability is astonishing

Farke has made it clear that it is important to rotate his wingers, and has often brought in Mateo Joseph for Joel Piroe. But when it comes to Aaronson, the £25m man has started 25 consecutive league games.

That is despite being an explosive player. Aaronson has not had a single injury all season, and in terms of Leeds’ outfield players, has played the most minutes for club and country this season behind Joe Rodon.

Most minutes played by Leeds outfield players for club and country:

PlayerClub appearancesNational Team appearancesMinutes
Joe Rodon2963081
Brenden Aaronson2852530
Ao Tanaka29 (4 for Dusseldorf)32362
Pascal Struijk2602252
Jayden Bogle2602207

Farke is incredibly loyal to Aaronson despite the American earning plenty of criticism all season for his form. His play between the lines is excellent, Stuart Dallas saying Aaronson is one of the best in transition.

He might not get the numbers, but Aaronson links the midfield to attack very well. Able to push Leeds up the park and often, offering the pass before the assist. If Leeds are to go up, keeping Aaronson fit is key.
