The futures of both Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto continue to be on everyone’s lips at Leeds United this summer.
Leeds know that keeping them would be a monumental boost to their promotion hopes but have to be realistic in that both will be keen on playing at a higher level.
To everyone’s surprise, the two close friends both gave Leeds a season of Championship football in 2023/24, all be it Gnonto did try and force his way out 12 months ago.
However, after Leeds’ failure to win promotion, speculation has once again mounted this summer and it does feel more likely they could leave this time around.
Summerville is wanted by a host of clubs from across Europe, while Everton are confident it will be second time lucky for their pursuit of Gnonto.
Whether Gnonto could stay if Summerville leaves
The message from Leeds ever since Archie Gray’s sale is they are no longer under any pressure to sell, but that does not stop clubs from registering their interest.
From Summerville’s perspective, it has been reported there is an ‘understanding’ with Leeds that an exit is highly likely before the end of the window, considering the season he enjoyed.
However, Leeds are only going to sanction an exit on their terms and £30 million is the asking price that has been suggested, with Summerville’s camp keen to secure the best possible deal for the club.
An exit for Summerville would strengthen Leeds’ PSR situation even more, but according to Team Talk, that does not necessarily mean Gnonto will stay.
The report states the sale of one of Summerville or Gnonto would not guarantee the other one stays, and Leeds are actually planning for the eventuality both go.
Leeds would be doing themselves a disservice if they didn’t receive at least £50 million for the pair of them, but whether clubs are happy to agree to their terms remains to be seen.

How Leeds have planned for Summerville and Gnonto exits
Winger is a position Leeds have been scouring the market ‘extensively’ this summer, but they will only move for one depending on what happens with their key duo.
In fact, it is said Leeds have already identified who they will move for if they go, and are ‘primed’ to push the button on pursuing them, meaning they are well prepared.
One potential option who has been linked is Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, though they will face plenty of competition for him.
In order to soften the blow of losing such important players, you would imagine Leeds bring in at least one marquee addition to replace them.
