Premier League club advancing in deal to sign Leeds player for an initial £20m, he wants move

Leeds United are getting ever closer to their seventh permanent sale of the summer window as talks between The Whites and a Premier League are progressing well, according to the latest report.

So far, Leeds have waved goodbye to Archie Gray for £40m and Glen Kamara for around £8.5m, joining Ligue 1 side Rennes. Spanish duo Marc Roca and Diego Llorente have completed moves to Real Betis.

Kris Klaesson and Charlie Cresswell have also been sold. It sees Leeds rake in around £60m in transfer fees so far, with more expected. Crysencio Summerville continues to be linked with West Ham opening talks.

But it is Wilfried Gnonto that could be next. The Italy star has been linked with a move to Everton after a move to Merseyside last summer fell through, with Leeds refusing to let the former Inter Milan man go.

Everton advancing in talks to sign Leeds winger Wilfried Gnonto

Everton have been strongly linked again with signing Gnonto, and a report last week said that The Toffees were confident of a £22m deal for Gnonto. That is despite Newcastle eyeing a move for the Leeds winger.

Now, TeamTalk say Everton are progressing well in talks to sign Gnonto from Leeds. The player wants to join Sean Dyche’s side and reunite with Jack Harrison, with a deal worth £20m plus £5m more in add-ons.

Gnonto is currently in Germany with the rest of the Leeds squad, but his representatives are expecting that Gnonto will be on the move before the end of the summer and end his two-year Leeds stint.

A £25m move for Gnonto will be Leeds’ fifth-biggest sale

The most-expensive departures came in the same window, the same window in which Leeds bought Gnonto from Zurich for less than £4m. Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha left Leeds for £45m and £55m.

Archie Gray’s move to Tottenham is expected to be in a similar region to that of Rio Ferdinand’s exit from Leeds. Then at £25m, Gnonto’s proposed move to Everton would cost more than Tyler Adams’ leaving.

While Gnonto is a top talent and a superb player at Championship level, profit of more than £20m on the Italy star is excellent business for Leeds. Especially, in the eyes of Profit & Sustainability Rules.
