Leeds United are continuing to get players out the Elland Road door this summer with Glen Kamara the latest to leave the Yorkshire club, to join Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais.
Plenty continue to be linked with a summer exit. Rasmus Kristensen is closing in on a loan move to Robin Koch’s Eintracht Frankfurt, with a permanent move deemed too expensive as Leeds request a £12.5m fee.
Everton are confident of a £22m move for Willy Gnonto, and Crysencio Summerville is still being linked with the exit door. Kamara’s Rennes are the latest club to be touted as a possible suitor for Summerville.
But one player that still has an uncertain future is Max Wober. Branded “unbelievable” by Matt Kilgallon, the left-footed Austrian endured a tumultuous Euro 2024 campaign but his Leeds future is up in the air.
Max Wober future remains uncertain as Leeds look for an exit
One of Victor Orta’s eight-strong loan army that left Leeds on loan last summer, Wober returns to Leeds with Gladbach unable to afford him permanently. Even if Leeds have reduced their asking price to £12.5m.
So, with Gladbach unwilling to pay that much for him and no other suitors reported thus far, Wober may end up at Elland Road next season. Leeds certainly need additions in the middle of Daniel Farke’s defence.
Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen are due back at Leeds for pre-season this week and are likely to be part of the squad that jets off to Germany this weekend, after a friendly against Harrogate.
Wober could re-sign for Gladbach, but at the end of August
German newspaper Rheinsche Post state that while Gladbach cannot afford Wober, they are still keen on re-signing the Austria star this summer. However, they may have to remain patient over a Wober deal.
Leeds will want to sell Wober if they are to let him go, in order to bring in more cash. But if they are to do so, it looks as if Leeds will have to reduce their asking price further to get a move sorted for the Austrian.
But Rheinsche Post say that Wober could in fact return to Gladbach on loan at the end of the window, if no other clubs become interested and Leeds become desperate in trying to get rid of him this summer.
