Brenden Aaronson, Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen are the only players contracted to Leeds United not yet back for pre-season.
The former Red Bull Salzburg trio were all away on international duty representing their respective countries at either Euro 2024 or the Copa America.
As such, all three were granted an extended holiday period, though it would seem Kristensen will not be reporting back at all.
Unlike Aaronson, who has committed himself to Leeds for the upcoming season, Kristensen and Wober’s futures have still been very much up in the air.
However, Kristensen is now closing in on a move to Eintracht Frankfurt and a bit like Diego Llorente, could be told to stay away to ensure a deal is over the line.
Aaronson and Wober pre-season return revealed
Aaronson will undoubtedly be keen to get back to Thorp Arch and make an impression on Daniel Farke following his decision to reject offers elsewhere and stay.
The 23-year-old has already held extensive talks with Farke about his role for the upcoming season, and it will now be up to him to prove himself to his teammates and the supporters.
Wober, meanwhile, admitted during Euro 2024 that he had no idea what his future holds. A return from his holiday back to West Yorkshire will speed up that process of deciding.
And according to Leeds Live, that return date is imminent. Leeds head to Harrogate Town for their first pre-season friendly on Friday, and the report states they are due back before then.
That could well mean they are at Thorp Arch as early as today, and it will be interesting to see how Leeds document their returns across social media.
As mentioned, of course, Kristensen may well be absent as he works to tie up a move to Frankfurt, of which he is keen to do.
What was the most recent update on Wober’s future?
The constant line from the English media regarding Wober is that Farke has been giving consideration to bringing him back.
However, that was also the same for Kristensen, and he is now about to leave. Farke will not want to reintegrate Wober, only for him to leave in a couple of weeks’ time.
Reporting earlier this month, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg suggested the most likely outcome is that Wober departs this summer.
It remains to be seen what clubs come forward given Borussia Monchengladbach’s inability to meet the asking price, but as seen with Kristensen, it can come from no where.
