Journalist Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on the Leeds United future of Max Wober, with Borussia Monchengladbach only able to sign the defender on loan in the summer transfer window.
Max Wober was one of the players to damage his relationship with Leeds fans by deciding to leave the club following relegation. There had been hope that Wober would stay at Leeds last summer, but he ultimately took up the chance to leave on loan.
Wober leaving Leeds hurt and surprised his teammates, so it was always going to be difficult for the Austrian to make amends in West Yorkshire if he did return.
Unfortunately for the centre-back, it seems that Borussia Monchengladbach are struggling to keep him, with Leeds demanding at least £8.5 million for Wober.
Max Wober looks likely to leave Leeds again
According to Sky journalist Plettenberg on X, Monchengladbach are only able to sign Wober if the deal is another loan move, something the 26-year-old is aware of.

Despite the issues, Plettenberg has suggested that Wober leaving Leeds this summer is still looking to be on the cards, as things stand…
One option Whites must not consider as Borussia Monchengladbach struggle to meet demands
If there is one option Leeds should not consider for Wober this summer, it is surely a loan move which includes no option or obligation to buy, particularly if the Whites are under no obligation to let him leave temporarily.
Wober has a lot of work to do to win the Leeds fans over again, but that was largely down to his decision to ultimately leave, rather than his quality on the pitch. Ultimately, he was, by far, Leeds’ best defender in the months after his arrival – although that is not saying a great deal either.
If he has to stay put, he could make a really impressive impact for Daniel Farke’s side, and he has the kind of playing style that would help him win supporters around again if he plays well.
Obviously, there is no point keeping him if his presence is going to hurt the squad morale, so Daniel Farke will have to take that into account. And his wages will surely influence what decision is taken.
But, while Plettenberg says that Wober is on course to leave, there is arguably little reason for Leeds to make it easy for another club to sign him this time around.
