Rennes want to sign another Leeds United player as Glen Kamara move to Ligue 1 side confirmed

Stade Rennais have confirmed the signing of Glen Kamara from Leeds United on a permanent deal until June 2028, but Kamara is now the only Elland Road star that the French club want to sign.

The 28-year-old midfielder leaves Elland Road after less than a year, playing 42 times in all competitions under Daniel Farke. A key player for Leeds last season, his exit leaves a gaping hole in the middle.

The 59-time Finland star is the sixth player to be sold by Leeds this summer after Archie Gray’s £40m move to Spurs, Marc Roca and Diego Llorente’s joining Betis, Kris Klaesson and Charlie Crresswell.

But Kamara is unlikely to be the last permanent sale made by The 49ers, who are looking to balance the books and bring in some much-needed cash after failure to gain promotion last season, under Farke.

Leeds have made three signings so far, but Alex Cairns is not going to have an impact on the first team and Joe Rodon does not improve the side from last term given he was a major player in Farke’s XI.

Joe Rothwell has been added on loan from Bournemouth but worryingly for Leeds fans, Nancy Froston reports that Leeds see Rothwell as a replacement for Kamara instead of bringing in a new midfielder.

Others are set to depart and one player that continues to be linked with the exit door is winger Crysencio Summerville. Many Premier League clubs are keen on Summerville, like Newcastle, Villa and Palace.

Crysencio Summerville could end up reuniting with Kamara

The Dutchman is expected to join a Premier League club, even with PSG said to have shown interest as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe, with the France captain paraded as a new Real Madrid player today.

But French outlet Foot Mercato report that Rennes are in the mix to sign Summerville, too. Rennes have cash to spend after selling Enzo Le Fee to Roma and could make another move to raid Leeds this summer.

If Summerville is tempted to join Rennes remains to be seen. Rennes are not in European competition and the Premier League will be much more enticing, especially with some linked sides in European football.

But there is a chance that Kamara and Summerville reunite at Rennes and Kamara’s move to the Ligue 1 side could be a key part in Rennes’ hope of luring the Dutch winger to the club in the next few weeks.
