A striker seems like the no.1 transfer priority at Leeds United right now, if not then the no.2 priority. The fans can see it, though whether Daniel Farke can remains to be seen.
There’s just a week left of the January transfer window. Clubs in the Championship are stocking up for the second half of the season, with the likes of Sheffield United and Sunderland having made some impressive captures.
But quite alarmingly, Leeds United are yet to sign anyone. Daniel Farke hinted at a quiet January transfer window at Elland Road but few thought the Whites would be completely silent in the opening three weeks of the market.
Several players are linked with Leeds United right now. After the injury to Patrick Bamford earlier in January, a number of strikers have been mentioned alongside a potential move to Elland Road.
Two of them are St Gallen striker Willem Geubbels and Lausanne’s Alvyn Sanches. Both play in the Swiss Super League and both went head-to-head on Sunday.

Willem Geubbels comes out on top vs Alvyn Sanches in Swiss clash
Geubbels and Sanches are two exciting strikers currently playing in Switzerland, and the pair went head-to-head over the weekend. It’s a game that Farke may have kept an eye on given Leeds’ links to the pair; if so, he would’ve loved what he saw.
Sanches fired Lausanne into a 2-1 lead shortly after the break, despite his side having 10 men. Soon after though, St Gallen equalised. Then on the 71 minute mark, Geubbels scored the winning goal for St Gallen, capping a 3-2 win.
The 21-year-old Sanches has now scored three in his last five, with two assists in that time too. His season tally stands at seven goals and three assists in 20 Swiss Super League games.
Geubbels meanwhile has three in his last four, with seven goals and two assists in 14 league matches for St Gallen in 2024/25.

Leeds United striker target Mergim Berisha completes move elsewhere
Whilst Sanches and Geubbels seemingly remain active transfer targets for Leeds United, Farke has just seen one of his key targets seal a move elsewhere.
Mergim Berisha has been quite heavily linked with Leeds United during this January transfer window, after falling out of favour at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.
Now though, the former German international has sealed a return to Augsburg who have signed the 26-year-old on an initial loan deal, with the option to buy him at the end of the season.
As we get closer and closer to deadline day, Leeds will miss out on more and more targets unless they pull the trigger on one soon.
