Daniel Farke has delivered his biggest hint yet that Leeds United are close to making a new signing in the January transfer window with less than a week before the February 3 deadline.
At the beginning of the window, Daniel Farke repeatedly said he was expecting a quiet window. But in the press conference last Thursday ahead of Monday night’s game against Burnley, he hinted at new signings.
Indeed, Farke said he wanted three new additions – a no.10, a striker and a centre-back. But with six days left in the transfer window, Leeds are not reportedly close to any new additions in their bid for promotion.
Leeds went 12 games unbeaten on Monday night with a solid 0-0 draw away at Burnley, a result that was easily predicted given Burnley have only conceded nine goals. Farke spoke to reporters after the draw.

Daniel Farke hints a new signing could be imminent at Leeds
Farke is renowned for keeping his cards close to his chest but speaking after the draw at third-placed Burnley, the Leeds manager hinted that actually, The Whites could do some business in the next few days.
Quoted by The Athletic’s new Leeds United reporter Beren Cross, Farke hinted that a new signing could be imminent by saying he has not checked his phone for the last six hours and there could be an update.
Cross quote Farke on X: “I have not checked my phone for the last six hours. I will check it after this press conference perhaps I can tell you more [about transfers] in the next press conference.”
The latest players to be linked with a move to Leeds United
Sadly for Farke and Leeds fans, Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia seems to be off the cards with the Argentine set to join German giants Bayer Leverkusen on loan with an option for a permanent move to the Germans.
However, Leeds have been linked with a shock move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The England star is with Besiktas in Turkey but has only managed six appearances for the SuperLig outfit this season.
Elsewhere, Graham Smyth rubbished reports Leeds were closing in on Kelechi Iheanacho, who is currently at Victor Orta’s struggling Sevilla. St. Gallen striker Willem Geubbels has also been linked with Leeds.
