Leeds United will not be signing Emi Buendia from Aston Villa this month as the Argentine ace has now agreed to join a new club on loan until the end of the season.
Buendia has been strongly linked with a move to Leeds United this month. Graeme Bailey even told us at LeedsUnited.News that he felt there was a “good chance” of a deal being done to land the Argentine.
A move would see Daniel Farke reunite with Buendia, a player that sparkled under his guidance at Carrow Road in the Championship – having a hand in 51 goals in 77 games after being signed from Getafe.
Farke has made it clear he wants to sign a new attacking midfielder before the deadline to bring in some competition for Brenden Aaronson. But a new update ends any chance of that player being Buendia.

Bayer Leverkusen agree deal to sign Emi Buendia on loan
Buendia looked as though he may be given more of a role at Villa after starting in the Champions League last week against Monaco. But Unai Emery has since said that Buendia needs more game time now.
On Monday afternoon, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Bayer Leverkusen are now set to sign Buendia. A six-month loan deal to join Xabi Alonso’s side, with the inclusion of a permanent clause.
Plettenberg reported on X: “EXCLUSIVE | Emiliano Buendia, now on the verge of joining Leverkusen with immediate effect! Total agreement with Aston Villa now has been reached. Verbal agreement was done.
“28-year-old versatile attacking midfielder will join Leverkusen on a 6-month loan with an option to buy. Medical soon. Exclusive news from Saturday, set to be confirmed soon,” Plettenberg added, on Buendia.
Who will Leeds now turn to, with Buendia move dead?
The need for a no.10 remains ahead of next Monday’s deadline and Leeds have been linked with a few options. Real Salt Lake’s Diego Luna is a Leeds target after winning the MLS’ Young Player of the Season.
But this week, Leeds have been linked with a shock move for England player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 35-capped star is currently in Turkey with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s new side Besiktas but wants to go.
Leeds are battling Wolves and Leicester for the former Arsenal and Liverpool ace who has had his injury issues, but is still a player of real quality and at 31, is still a decent age. But Buendia is now off the table.
