Leeds United could soon be in the market for a new left-back if Junior Firpo leaves the club on a free transfer at the end of his contract – and a Premier League club are ‘open to offers’ for one option.
Firpo remains out of contract at the end of the month, after Leeds confirmed they were in talks over a new deal for The Dominican Republic. Since then, Lyon have made a formal offer to sign Firpo on a free.
AC Milan are also in talks with Firpo’s entourage as they look to replace the loss of Theo Hernandez, who is expected to join Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal. Leeds then, are likely to be in the market for a new left-back.
Plenty of left-sided options have been linked with Leeds, including Wolves star Hugo Bueno and Liverpool favourite Konstantinos Tsimikas. Another is Tottenham’s Ben Davies, who like Firpo is out of contract.

Ben Jacobs says Tottenham open to offers for Ben Davies
While nothing has been confirmed, Tottenham have the option of extending Davies’ contract by a further year. Reports earlier this year suggested Spurs would activate that, for one of two reasons this summer.
One, to simply keep Davies around or two, to protect their asset and request a fee if clubs are interested. Leeds of course, have five Wales stars and he would be welcomed at Leeds among that Welsh quintet.
Leeds continue to be linked with Davies and now, Ben Jacobs has told Last Word On Spurs that Spurs are open to offers for Davies. He says Leeds were definitely interested before promotion and could still be.
“They definitely were interested in Davies when they were still in the Championship. Now we have to wait and see whether they move because targets can change due to promotion,” Jacobs said this week.
“The situation is open, but it is fair to say that Tottenham are open to offers. And if you’re open to offers, then extending the contract only helps you protect the value and bring in the most money possible.”
What Archie Gray has said about Tottenham pal Ben Davies
Of course, Gray is now a teammate of the Wales captain and has shared a dressing room with Davies for a year now. The left-back has been largely used as back-up, but had to come in during Spurs’ injury crisis.
The same with Gray, who at times has partnered Davies in the middle of the Spurs defence. Gray actually spoke about Davies recently, and how Davies is “a joy to play with”, coaching him through Spurs games.
“It’s a joy to play with him. He speaks me through every moment through how experienced he is and he’s seen everything in the Premier League,” Gray said. Now, Davies could join Gray’s boyhood club in Leeds.
