The January transfer window might be shut but that does not mean the transfer department at Leeds United will have gone to sleep, only to reboot when the summer window opens.
There is plenty to do and plenty to plan for, whether that be a Leeds United side gearing up for the fight against relegation in the Premier League or a Leeds side preparing for a fire sale, if Leeds don’t go up.
Not only that, but there are at-home contract situations that require sorting out. Junior Firpo is open to signing a new deal while Sam Byram has publicly stated he would love to sign a new contract at Leeds.
Then there are the on-loan duo, Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell. Solomon dropped a hint this week suggesting he’d like to stay at Leeds while Bournemouth want a £7.5m for Rothwell to sign permanently.

The 49ers have agreed a fee with Preston for Leeds United player
Like with Solomon and Rothwell at Leeds, Preston are weighing up whether they want Sam Greenwood signed permanently. The versatile attacker has scored seven goals and laid on two assists this season.
Quizzed by the Lancashire Post on whether Greenwood could sign permanently, former Leeds chief and now-Preston chairman Peter Ridsdale said that a fee has already been agreed between the two clubs.
He says the decision to sign him permanently is between the player himself, and another old Leeds boy in manager Paul Heckingbottom: “The decision will be in two people’s hands. The manager here and Sam.
“The Leeds promotion, or otherwise, is not a complicating factor because all of that’s been taken into account in the numbers that have already been agreed between us and Leeds,” Ridsdale continued.
“If Sam says ‘I’d like to sign for Preston’ and the manager says ‘I’d like him to sign’, the financials are already agreed. Whether Leeds stay down or go up is irrelevant.” The Lancashire Post say a fee is £1.5m.
Sam Greenwood has no future at Leeds United
That is with Daniel Farke in charge. Leeds have needed a striker and a no.10 during January but at no point was there even a whisper that they might consider recalling Greenwood last month from Preston.
That is despite his nine goals and assists for Heckingbottom’s side. Clearly, and in light of Farke needing a player in those positions, the decision not to even consider recalling Greenwood shows Leeds’ stance.
They see him as a player that will be sold in the coming months and nothing more. It is despite the star actually performing well while Leeds were in the Premier League and scoring for both Preston and Boro.
