Manager who turned down Leeds United has given Daniel Farke advice on signing ‘important’ player

Daniel Farke is no doubt a manager who seeks advice on bringing people to Leeds United.

What Leeds have with Farke is an intellectual mind who knows what is best for a football club.

Despite his dismal Premier League record, the 49ers did well to stick with the German, as his knowledge is already affecting signings made.

Paraag Marathe said he loves Farke’s belief and will look to stick with this belief throughout the transfer window, as many other targets get lined up.

But behind the genius, Farke will need help in nailing down the perfect players for Leeds, and according to another manager, this player is a must.

Former Leeds United target Bo Henriksen praises ‘important’ player

Many fans would have heard of the name Bo Henriksen when Farke’s position in West Yorkshire was under threat.

Leeds were reportedly in contact with Henriksen after the Dane guided Bundesliga Mainz to a 6th-place finish, cementing them in the Europa Conference League for the first time.

Nevertheless, Henriksen turned down Leeds and opted to stay, which worked out for the Whites in the end.

But despite his rejection of the Elland Road job, he might have given some strong advice for Leeds target Robin Zentner.

Zentner has only emerged recently amongst the vast options available for Illan Meslier’s replacement in goal, but the 30-year-old might be perfect for Farke’s regime after Henriksen’s comments in February 2025 in a press conference.

“Robin is not only an incredibly good goalkeeper, but also very important as a leader,” Henriksen said

“Hopefully, Robin will also join the national team.“

Trend can continue with Leeds signing Zentner after Henriksen advice

The 30-year-old shot-stopper is clearly a well-respected figure in the Mainz dressing room.

Leeds’ goalkeeper position needs to be sorted quickly, as with the high pressure on the role after Meslier’s stint, they need time to settle in.

After nine clean sheets and being part of the joint-third best defence in Germany, Zentner could be an ideal candidate, not to mention his incredible saves throughout last campaign.

But there is a more exciting factor that will come with Zentner’s signing, and that will follow the early deals for Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw.

It’s said that Bijol is a leader, and Bornauw uses Carles Puyol’s mentality, showing how the three players together could create a blend of an excellent defensive mentality and incorporate their leadership skills.

If Farke gets this right, signing Zentner could be the final piece to creating a formidable defence in the Premier League.
