The talk over a replacement for Daniel Farke remains with the Leeds United manager already under pressure ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season – but one contender has ruled out a move.
Immediately after promotion was secured, two national newspapers suggested The 49ers were looking to replace Farke. The Guardian even named three managers Leeds had sounded about the Elland Road job.
Richard Keys then said Jose Mourinho had turned Leeds down, in the aftermath of Paraag Marathe telling fans that Farke would remain in the hotseat. But the scrutiny remains high and a bad start will extend that.
Since Marathe’s confirmation that Farke would remain as Leeds manager, there has been little talk about the German’s future. However, Leeds are said to have held talks with Mainz manager Bo Henriksen.

Bo Henriksen speaks out on future amid links with Leeds United
Henriksen has guided Mainz back into European competition for the first time since 2016-17, finishing in sixth place and qualifying for the Conference League. Mainz are captained by midfielder Nadiem Amiri.
His work has not gone unnoticed. Leeds are said to have engaged in talks with Henriksen about replacing Farke in due course, at least sounding the Danish manager out as a potential candidate in the future.
Well, speaking ahead of Mainz’s last game of the season on Saturday, Henriksen left Leeds with egg on their face by categorically denying he is on the move in due course and is focused on staying at Mainz.
“I’m very, very happy here. It’s an incredible club, and I’m looking forward to next season. It’s a fantastic place, and we always strive to keep improving. That’s the most important thing for me,” Henriksen said.

The other managers linked with Leeds United job already
It is incredibly harsh on Farke that some are already suggesting he could be replaced, but his Premier League record is woeful. Just six wins in 49 Premier League matches during his time with Norwich City.
However, context is required – a lack of funding, injuries and the mere size difference of Leeds and The Canaries. At Elland Road, with The 49ers and Red Bull behind Leeds, Farke has all the tools he requires.
But Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Davide Ancelotti and Roger Schmidt have all been sounded out while Como’s Cesc Fabregas and of course, Mourinho, have been touted. Henriksen can be added to that list.
