Leeds United transfer rumours latest, including updates on Rodrigo Muniz interest, the winger situation after Igor Paixao, and Mateus Fernandes.

The transfer window has around five weeks remaining for the 49ers and Leeds United, who are continuing their strong work in the market as more concrete transfer news emerges to add to their seven summer signings.

Only Burnley have been more active in the Premier League so far, but a busy summer still lies ahead at Leeds as Daniel Farke looks to improve several areas of the side, with the Leeds squad getting closer to completion ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League.

Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach, and Lucas Perri have all bolstered Leeds’ ranks in recent weeks, meaning they are making plenty of progress but more are still set to follow.

In the meantime, with vital weeks ahead for the recruitment team and with Farke’s team in pre-season ahead of Everton visiting Elland Road, here we have taken a look at some of the latest transfer news and the biggest headlines coming out of the club.

Mateus Fernandes has serious interest from West Ham and Leeds

Mateus Fernandes shone for Southampton in the Premier League last season, in spite of the club’s relegation. It’s therefore clear to see why Leeds would make Fernandes a ‘priority’ signing this summer.

It’s been claimed that both Leeds and Crystal Palace are interested in Fernandes’ services, but also that Southampton want £30 million for Fernandes.

It’s claimed Juventus are also keeping tabs on Fernandes as well, with Atletico Madrid and West Ham United in the mix. However, the latest claims are that West Ham lead the race for Fernandes over Leeds.

Leeds’ plans for the window after missing out on Igor Paixao

In the end, Leeds came incredibly close to landing Igor Paixao. It’s an incredibly frustrating situation for all those involved with the club, both fans and the recruitment department alike.

In spite of trying all they could, including new-boy Lucas Perri speaking directly with Paixao, his international compatriot, on the phone, it proved to be futile.

Leeds will continue to seek out ‘reach signings’ like Paixao. However, perhaps most crucially, it has become clear that Leeds are also looking at wingers on both flanks and not just left-sided profiles.

Rodrigo Muniz has other serious interest including Newcastle United

Leeds’ pursuit of Rodrigo Muniz is ongoing as the Brazilian Fulham striker is Leeds’ top target to spearhead their attack and Leeds believe they will strike a deal for Muniz with the Cottagers.

It’s been reported recently that Leeds’ second offer for Muniz remains on the table for Fulham to answer, which is why a deal has stalled. That raises concerns regarding competition.

There have also been reports that Spurs have seen a bid for Muniz rejected previously in this window. Now, however, Newcastle are also in the mix for Muniz. It’s likely to be a difficult deal to wrap up if competition continues to increase.
