After six days of the January transfer window it’s been anything but quiet at Leeds United as Daniel Farke’s pursuit of Louie Barry has taken a big hit.

Leeds are looking like strong contenders for the Championship title this season and could increase their chances with some new additions this window.

Daniel Farke is taking a ‘relatively young’ approach to this window and has claimed his squad will be on the younger side come February.

This is just one of many new revelations to circulate Elland Road as the transfer news doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Leeds suffer Louie Barry blow with Derby County leading the race

The main name that has seemingly cropped up every day of this transfer window has been Louie Barry.

The Aston Villa striker was recalled from Stockport County as Unai Emery sees Barry at a higher level, with Leeds and Sunderland supposed frontrunners this has now taken a dramatic turn.

Derby County now lead for the capture of Barry, this is due to the striker’s ambition for starting football as he would go straight into Derby’s starting line-up.

At Leeds, he would face the competition of Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph which could be a prospect he doesn’t fancy taking on.

With the pursuit of Barry fading, Leeds have now put their interest in Hoffenheim striker Mergim Berisha.

The German international signed for the Bundesliga side for £11.6m in the summer of 2023 but suffered a knee injury which has limited his game time for Hoffenheim.

This has tempted Leeds to keep an eye on Berisha who has changed agents amid the Whites’ interest, Berisha’s new agency represents the likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James, and other Leeds players at this current stage.

Additionally, Berisha has played under former Leeds boss Jesse Marsch at RB Salzburg and spent time alongside Max Wober and Brendan Aaronson during his period in Austria.

All the signs are there for Berisha to complete a move to Elland Road, as it seems as though there will be more to come on this front.

Leeds are planning on four new signings this window

Leeds are planning to bring in four additions this January, as Daniel Farke will undoubtedly have a structure in place this window.

Centre-back and left-back depth have been made the main points of focus, as Isaac Schmidt has struggled to kick on at Leeds.

A midfielder and a new striker have also been targeted, with Farke hoping to have a stronger squad in February in their pursuit of Premier League football.
