Leeds United target who Brenden Aaronson knows well changes agent as he tries to secure January move

New names continue to be linked with Leeds United on a regular basis since the January transfer window’s doors opened, and the latest is a striker struggling for game time over in Germany.

Daniel Farke says he is expecting a quiet January. But he will remember how Leeds only signed one player in the previous winter window while Ipswich made many signings, and it helped them get over the line.

If Leeds are to do business, the chances are that The Whites will look to sign a playmaker. Graham Smyth thinks Leeds will sign a no.10, with boss Farke lacking cover for Brenden Aaronson in attacking midfield.

But up front, Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt could leave in the next few weeks and that means, Leeds will need a new striker. One option that is now on the Elland Road radar is Hoffenheim’s Mergim Berisha.

Mergim Berisha changes agent amid reports Leeds are interested

The two-time Germany international joined Hoffenheim for £11.6m in the summer of 2023. But a serious knee injury has limited Berisha, who has since returned from the injury, to just 24 Hoffenheim outings.

Farke’s knowledge of German football knows no bounds and that was proven by his work to sign a gem in Ao Tanaka from Dusseldorf for just £3m. Leeds are interested in signing Berisha before the deadline.

Now, German outlet Sport.de say Berisha has changed agents and is now represented by CAA Stellar. An organisation that look after Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James and other Leeds players at this moment in time.

Interestingly, Berisha played for Salzburg under Jesse Marsch and has spent time alongside Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen with the Austrian giants and that could help a move occur.

Hoffenheim stance on Mergim Berisha amid Leeds United links

Not only does the report state that former Fenerbahce striker Berisha has changed his agents, but it also states what Hoffenheim want to do with striker Berisha before the end of the January transfer window.

Sport.de claim Hoffenheim want to loan Berisha out to a foreign club in order to help him get game time and continue his long-term recovery from the ACL injury he sustained shortly after joining Hoffenheim.

Whether Berisha would start games for Leeds remains to be seen. With just 20 Championship games left to play, Leeds also need someone to hit the ground running and Berisha might not be the ideal solution.
